Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 July 2026
This page is maintained by the Trug team to explain what information the Trug app collects and how it is used. It describes the app as it works today and is not an independent audit or certification.
Information we collect
Account details. When you sign up we store your email address and the password credential handled by our authentication provider. We never see your password in plain text.
Garden and plant data. Plants you add, care logs (watering, feeding, notes), photos you upload, garden names, and any gardens you share with other members.
Location settings. The approximate coordinates you provide during onboarding, rounded before use, so daily tasks and forecasts reflect your local weather.
Community content. Posts, comments, and votes you publish on the community board, along with the plant snapshots you choose to attach.
How we use it
To run the app: generating your daily task digest, showing weather guidance, storing your logs and photos, powering community discussions, and delivering notifications you have opted into.
To improve reliability: diagnosing errors and monitoring performance.
We do not sell your personal information.
Service providers
Trug relies on third-party infrastructure to operate, including our hosting and application platform, our managed database, authentication and file storage backend, a weather data provider for forecasts, and an AI model provider that powers plant advice. These providers process data only to deliver those features.
Sharing and visibility
Plants and logs are private to you and to any members you invite to a shared garden. Community posts and comments are visible to other signed-in users in the scope you choose. Barter listings show only the details required to arrange a trade, not your exact address.
Cookies and local storage
We use browser storage to keep you signed in, remember your active garden and view preferences, and queue log entries while you are offline. We do not use advertising cookies.
Retention and deletion
Your data is kept while your account is active. You can delete individual plants, logs, photos, and posts from within the app. To request deletion of your whole account and its data, contact us using the details below.
Your choices
You can edit your profile and location at any time, turn push notifications on or off from your device and profile settings, leave a shared garden, and opt out of barter.
Children
Trug is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected in the “last updated” date at the top of this page.
